WHAT is First Things First?
An innovative, voluntary HIV testing, counselling and education campaign which has been endorsed by the Minister of Health and forms part of Government´s HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) programme.
WHEN is it taking place?
The campaign will be rolled out during the first quarter of 2011.
WHERE is it happening?
On campuses at 18 universities across South Africa.
HOW does it work?
Students are tested for HIV. They then visit the interactive stand and unit, where they can enter the competition and stand the chance to win incredible prizes.

WHO is involved?
The campaign targets students in their first year of study. The initiative is a collaborative effort between Innovative Medicines South Africa (IMSA), its member companies and the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD).
WHY is it happening?
South Africa has one of the most severe HIV and AIDS epidemics in the world, with an estimated 5,7 million people living with the virus. The goal of the testing campaign is to help slow the spread of HIV and improve the health prospects of students across the country.
